Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test Preparation

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career. The ASVAB is a timed multi-aptitude test that is developed and maintained by the Department of Defense.

Military.com provides a series of practice tests on-line to help candidates prepare for military service. These tests will give you an idea of how you'll score, and identify areas that need improvement. Then use the Military.com site suggested resources and ASVAB study guides to learn how to prepare for the ASVAB test.

Your scores in four critical areas -- Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Mathematics Knowledge (see below) -- count towards your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether you're qualified to enlist in the U.S. military.
